What to Wear

In early October the day temperatures are mid 60’s and evenings around 50. As with many downtown locations, you may experience windy conditions. There are no fashion police in Fort Wayne , but we do have some suggestions to make it easy for you:

  • Daytime-Rotary business casual – Rotary logo wear
  • Evenings (except Thursday and Saturday) - Rotary business casual
  • Thursday-Class Reunion event- (all classes to wear class jackets and theme tie/scarf.)
  • The Friday dinner will have a "Luau" theme, so corresponding attire would be appropriate.
  • Saturday Director's Banquet - Black tie optional.

Wi-Fi in the Hotel

Complimentary internet access is provided in hotel meeting rooms. You will also be able to access free Wi-Fi within the convention center area. Please note that these 2 areas will be on 2 different Wi-Fi networks. As common with public Wi-Fi, bandwidth may be limited.

Norman Hotel

Norman Oklahoma is located 20 miles south of downtown Oklahoma City. As the county seat of Cleveland County and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Its estimated population of 122,843 in 2017 makes it the third-largest city in Oklahoma.

Norman was settled during the Land Run of 1889, which opened the former Unassigned Lands of Indian Territory to American pioneer settlement. The city was named in honor of Abner Norman, the area's initial land surveyor, and was formally incorporated on May 13, 1891.

Economically the city has prominent higher education and related research industries, as it is home to the University of Oklahoma, the largest university in the state, with nearly 32,000 students enrolled. The university is well known for its sporting events by teams under the banner of the nickname "Sooners," with over 85,000 people routinely attending football games. The university is home to several museums, including the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, which contains the largest collection of French Impressionist art ever given to an American university, as well as the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.

The National Weather Center, located in Norman, houses a unique collection of university, state, federal, and private sector organizations that work together to improve the understanding of events related to the Earth's atmosphere.

Experience the forces of nature to go behind the scenes and see the  newest technology in action at the National Weather Center, where more  than 550 scientists, meteorologists, climatologists, students and staff  from The University of Oklahoma and multiple federal and state agencies  work together to improve the understanding of the Earth’s atmosphere and severe weather events.

Tours are available for the public Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at  1 p.m. and for larger groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Tours last between an hour and an hour and a half. All tours require reservations (walk-in tours are not permitted)
