WPV1 has been detected in an environmental sample in Germany. Wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) was isolated from an environmental sample in Hamburg, Germany, linked to WPV1 last identified in Kandahar, Afghanistan in August. No associated cases of paralysis have been detected in Germany. This is yet another example of why we need to End Polio Now. Polio anywhere is a threat to us everywhere.
