Celebrate World Immunization Week

For over 40 years, we’ve been working to eliminate Polio’s threat to the world’s children. Starting in the Philippines in 1979 and spreading throughout the world, the distribution of vaccines and development of monitoring systems has protected over 2.5 billion children from Polio and other infectious diseases.

But our job’s not done yet and we each have a part to play in not only celebrating this legacy of service but seeing our promise through to completion. World Immunization Week gives us an excellent opportunity to do both, but only if we take action.

Here are three things you can do to support our #EndPolio efforts during World Immunization Week coming up on April 24th-30th:

  1. Spread the word by downloading and using the World Immunization Week Toolkit for graphics and sample posts to share on social media with the hashtags #EndPolio and #VaccinesWork;
  2. Use the “Letter to the Editor” template in the toolkit to craft a letter for your local newspaper;
  3. Organize an event to educate community members on Rotary’s polio eradication efforts and raise funds;
  4. Support vaccination campaigns by partnering with local healthcare organizations to encourage routine immunizations in your community;

Check that your district has donated some of its District Designated Funds (DDF) to PolioPlus, to help us meet our annual goal of raising $50 million. The match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will double your donation.
