Time to Think About Awards

It isn’t too early to start thinking about submitting nominations for individual awards. Deadlines are fast approaching for both Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award and the new Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award nominations.

Recognizing up to 150 outstanding Rotarians and Rotaractors each year for their service activities, the Service Above Self Award is considered the highest honor that RI can bestow on a member. Only one person per district can be recognized each year, and the award can only be received once in a lifetime. From October 1st – 31st, each current governor can nominate one candidate from their district. The online nomination form is accessible via this link.

Named for Sylvia Whitlock, the first woman to become president of a Rotary club, this award honors one Rotary member each year for their work to advance women in Rotary. Originally created in 2017 by a group of Rotarians in 2017, in 2021 the RI Board made this an official RI award. Beginning this year, any member can nominate another member. Nominations are open from August 1st through September 30th.

Who do you know who is doing great service work or work to advance women in Rotary? Now is the time to recognize them for their contributions. Read about all available Rotary awards in this download.
