The Rotary Foundation – End of Year Details

“To-Do” list for Fourth Quarter of the Rotary year – You can download a one-page chart of the Fourth Quarter Annual Giving Quarterly District Roadmap at: https://msgfocus.rotary.org/files/amf_highroad_solution/user_827/Q4_District_Roadmap.png

Unspent DDF – Districts have until June 30th to use unspent District Designated Funds (DDF) from 2020-21 and earlier or to direct the unspent amount to the Endowment, PolioPlus Fund, Rotary Peace Centers, Disaster Response Fund, or the World Fund. If no direction is given by that date, the unspent DDF will go to the World Fund. To help you use your 2020-21 DDF sooner, transfers of DDF to these Foundation programs may be made now, even if the current year’s DDF has not yet been fully spent. For more information, download the frequently asked questions, watch the new video, and send any other questions you have about DDF to share@rotary.org.

Project Ideas: Service Project Center – Visit the new Service Project Center (formerly the Rotary Showcase) to learn about projects taking place in districts around the world. This is a great fantastic tool to help you find stories to share, inspire your members, and develop new project ideas.

Global Grant Reporting – The Foundation won’t approve new grant applications from sponsors that have any overdue reports for any grants approved after June 30th, 2024, and overdue reports will impact the reporting compliance percentages for the districts of both the host and international sponsors.

DRFC transition planning – Now is the time to finalize transition plans if you are transitioning to a new DRFC. The updated District Rotary Foundation Chair Grants Handbook has a chapter on planning a successful transition and includes the following tips, which you can customize to fit the specific needs of your district:

  • Confirm that your successor has been appointed and has completed their Learning Center courses
  • Complete the self-assessment in the DRFC Grants Handbook to reflect on your term and identify areas for improvement to help the incoming DRFC be successful
  • Make sure that your successor has opportunities to learn about the role and your district’s current grant activity
  • Share necessary records with the incoming DRFC

Grant Model Evaluation year 5 report – Rotary’s Research and Evaluation staff has completed the five-year Grant Model Evaluation and released its  2020-24 findings. The evaluation examined how global grants align with the Foundation’s priorities and areas of focus, engage members, and deepen members’ connection to Rotary. The evaluation found that:

  • Members who participate continue to have high satisfaction with global grants.
  • Global grant participants find the program to be important to their member experience.
  • Members who participate in global grants are likely to apply for global grants again.
