- Somalia: One cVDPV2 case and one cVDPV2-positive environmental sample. The number of cVDPV2 cases this year is 2. There were 7 in 2025.

On December 8, 2025, total pledges of $1.9 billion to vaccinate 370 million children annually and strengthen health systems was announced. Key donors included the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rotary International, and Bloomberg Philanthropies, with contributions from several nations.
Polio workers were among the first responders when a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck in September 2025, They rushed to help rescue the injured, provide first aid, support emergency medical teams, dig survivors from the rubble, establish temporary clinics, and coordinating the delivery of medical supplies and trauma care. They worked around the clock to support rescue operations and deliver critical relief.
