Aligning with Rotary’s area of focus on supporting the environment, which was officially added in 2020, April is a month where Rotarians worldwide focus on environmental issues and initiatives. The week includes Earth Day on April 22nd, a day to focus on mobilizing for action to protect our planet. While there may be conflicting views on the causes and effects of global warming, we can all agree that we have an obligation to be good stewards of our planet’s resources. Have you read the article in April’s Rotary magazine on food waste? We can do better.
As we celebrate Environmental Month, what are your club and district doing to design community service projects to preserve our planet? Whether it’s tree planting, organizing local cleanups, promoting sustainable land use, having a recycling drive, raising awareness, or supporting endangered species, your efforts can make a difference. You can explore ways to take action and tips for success in the Areas of Focus guide. You can browse environment projects on the Service Project Center to get ideas. For more inspiration and support, connect with Rotary Action Groups that work on endangered species, sustainability, and food plants. Working together, Rotarians can protect the environment and create lasting change in our communities and in our world.
