On Friday, September 8th, the world will celebrate international literacy day. This effort to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy fits nicely into our Supporting Education Area of Focus. Whether by making a targeted donation or participating in a literacy project, every club and district can do its part to see that children and adults have the opportunity to learn to read. Rotary’s Project Showcase is an easy way to find a proposed literacy project looking for a global grant partner or partner to play some other role. Currently, that search doesn’t turn up any such projects in our Zones. There’s time for you to change that ahead of September 8th.
