Poliovirus cases and positive environmental isolates reported this week:
- Afghanistan: No WPV1 cases and no WPV1-positive environmental samples. There have been three WPV1 cases this year and there were 21 in 2025. The most recent case was on February 17, 2026.
- Nigeria: One cVDPV2 cases, no cVDPV2-positive environmental samples, and no cVDPV3 cases
- Pakistan: No WPV1 cases and one WPV1-positive environmental samples. There have been three WPV1 cases this year and there were 31 in 2025. The most recent case was on February 10, 2026
- South Sudan: One cVDPV1 case, no cVDPV2-positive environmental samples, and no cVDPV3 cases
- Yemen: One cVDPV2 case and two cVDPV2-positive environmental samples

Instead of shots with needles, some polio vaccinators in remote communities of Afghanistan are starting to use jet injectors. Spring-powered devices shoot a tiny stream of vaccine through the outer layer of skin. All the person being vaccinated feels is a quick press on the skin, hears a soft click, and they are protected.
