New poliovirus cases and positive environmental isolates this week:
- Afghanistan: one WPV1 case and no positive environmental samples. The number of cases in 2025 is now three. There were 25 cases in 2024.
- Chad: one cVDPV2 case, one cVDPV3 case, and no positive environmental samples. The cVDPV3 case is linked to a case in Cameroon.
- Germany: no WPV1 cases and one cVDPV2-positive environmental sample
- Israel: no WPV1 cases and one cVDPV1-positive environmental sample
- Pakistan: no WPV1 cases and six WPV1-positive environmental samples. The total WPV1 cases for 2025 is 21. There were 74 in 2024.
- Yemen: no WPV1 cases and 25 cVDPV2 cases. The increase in reported cases and environmental sample isolates is not particularly linked to an increase in poliovirus transmission, but to retrospective testing of previously-collected specimens from the country.
